breakfast today 09/08/06

Clare was giving blood this morning and had been told to have a light breakfast. So no change from her normal routine, which today comprised Jordan's luxury crunch, semi-skinned milk (a day past its sell-by date, but who's counting) and Rachel's Greek-style yoghurt. Clare drank tea.

I like the idea of a sociable breakfast. In more work-hungry days, friends would drop round and share extended breakfasts of tea, bread, cheese, avocados and other strange combinations. But this morning I hit the usual problem. Sweetheart has to eat breakfast before my stomach can really handle solids. So I had to drink tea and watch him eat toast. We have another compatibility issue: he prefers white toast, I prefer brown. I was overjoyed to discover recently a "wholemeal and white" loaf, brown at one end and white at the other - or so I thought. Sadly, it turned out to be white sliced bread with bits in. The worst of both worlds.
